Why two children are more than twice the work
With one child, a school message is about your child. With two or more, every message has to be sorted before it can be acted on. A whole-school newsletter mixes the Year 4 swimming schedule with the Reception assembly. A closure day applies to everyone; a class trip applies to one. A nursery sends its notices through an app while the school sends email, and the two never line up.
The result is a familiar set of mistakes: the right kit on the wrong child, a form returned for one sibling and not the other, and a partner who knows about Thursday's early pickup for one class but not the other. None of these come from not reading the message. They come from reading it once and then trying to hold two versions of it in your head.
Sort every message by child first
The most useful habit is to decide, for each item in a message, which child it concerns before deciding when it happens. Whole-school items go on every child's plan. Class items go on one. Anything ambiguous stays flagged until you know.
Year 4 swimming begins Monday 12 October; children need a swimsuit, towel, and goggles every Monday until half term. The school is closed on Friday 16 October for staff training. Reception parents are invited to the harvest assembly on Wednesday 14 October. The book fair runs all week in the library; children may bring money to browse at lunchtime.

The assembly has a date but no time, so the row says so rather than guessing one. The closure is the only item that belongs to both children as a school date; the book fair belongs to both only if the family decides to take part.
How Plancove handles more than one child
Plancove keeps a separate plan for each child in your family. When you share a message, each proposed item names the child it concerns, and one item can belong to several children at once. A closure day therefore appears on every child's plan as a single item, while the swimming kit appears only on the child who swims. You review those assignments before saving, along with the dates and the wording they came from.

Nursery, preschool, and school in one family
Families with children at different stages usually get messages from different places: a nursery app, a preschool WhatsApp group, a school newsletter by email. Plancove does not connect to any of them, which is what makes mixing them possible. Share a notice from the app it arrived in, screenshot a message, or forward the email to your family's private Plancove address. Each one goes through the same review step and lands on the right child's plan.
Two schools work the same way. There is nothing to set up on either side, and no requirement that both schools use the same platform.
Questions about multiple children
Do I need a separate account for each child?
No. One family account holds every child, and each child gets their own plan. Children do not sign in; an adult adds them by first name.
Can an item apply to more than one child?
Yes. A closure day, a non-uniform day, or a whole-school event can belong to several children as one item, so it is not duplicated and not missed.
What if my children are at different schools?
That is fine. Plancove works with the messages you share, not with the school, so it does not matter where they come from or whether the schools use different systems.
Does my partner see every child's plan?
Yes. One subscription covers the whole household, and everyone you invite sees the same plans for every child.
