Turn the school newsletter into a plan for your family
A newsletter can cover five year groups, next month’s events, and something your child needs tomorrow. Plancove helps turn the message into proposed plan items, so you can review the details that belong in your family’s week.
For iPhone. Subscription required after the trial. See the App Store for current pricing and trial terms.
A shorter newsletter is not the same as a usable plan
A summary might tell you that swimming starts and the book fair is coming. You still need to know whether swimming applies to your child, what to pack, and whether the book fair needs any action from you.
Before saving anything, check the class or year group, the full date, and the action being requested. School-wide news and your family's obligations do not always belong in the same list.
What this newsletter means for one family
Weekly news: Year 1 swimming starts on Tuesday 13 October. Please bring a swimsuit and towel. Year 5 residential deposits are due on Thursday 15 October. All families are welcome at the book fair on Friday 16 October, from 3 to 5 p.m. Year 1 families should return the attached swimming consent form before lessons begin. Thank you to everyone who helped at the autumn fair.
| Newsletter detail | A sensible review decision |
|---|---|
| Year 1 swimming, Tuesday 13 October | Keep the event for the Year 1 child |
| Swimsuit and towel | Keep the packing requirement; choose a preparation time |
| Year 5 residential deposit | Do not add to this family's plan |
| Book fair, Friday 3–5 p.m. | Decide whether the family plans to attend |
| Consent form “before lessons begin” | Check the required hand-in date; no exact deadline is stated |
| Thank-you to volunteers | Background news, not a task |
This is a review example, not a promise that every newsletter will be interpreted perfectly. The parent confirms relevance, dates, and the final plan.
Share the format the school actually uses
Forward an email newsletter, share a PDF through the iPhone app, or send a screenshot or photo of a notice. You do not need the school to change how it communicates.
Read the proposed items alongside the source. Check that the right child is included and that optional events have not become obligations. Keep unclear details as questions to resolve before relying on them.
Questions about newsletters
Can I use a PDF newsletter?
Yes. Plancove supports sharing PDFs through the iPhone app. A readable document still needs a careful review of the resulting details.
What if a notice applies to two of my children?
Plancove supports plan items associated with more than one child. Check the children attached to the item when reviewing it.
What if the school sends a revised newsletter?
Share the correction and review the proposed changes. Check which items actually moved; a new event date does not necessarily change an unrelated deadline.
